example design of a wood header

... here I am using this example of our 24 x 72 cabin, subject to rather huge snow loads ... to illustrate header design.  Let's design a header for one of the side walls where we have an 8'-0" window opening.  The header will have to carry snow (and dead) load from above.  Rafters span from the ridge beam over the wall and overhang 2'.
